Guide to Music Midtown

Insider tips for navigating one of Atlanta's largest music festivals

Some of the biggest names in modern rock are coming to Midtown Atlanta’s Piedmont Park for three full days of music during Music Midtown. Follow these tips to help you navigate the city and the event.

Dates & Times

The dates for 2023 Music Midtown are Sept. 15-17. The gates to the festival open at 5 p.m. Friday, noon on Saturday and 11 a.m. on Sunday, and concerts typically go on well into the late evening hours.

Location

Summer time in the city at Atlanta's Piedmont Park.

Music Midtown takes place at Piedmont Park. There are four entrances to the event: 10th Street and Monroe Drive, Charles Allen Drive and 10th Street, Park Drive via the Park Drive Bridge, and 12th Street at Piedmont Avenue.

Piedmont Park is located within walking distance of Atlanta’s Midtown attractions, close to the Atlanta BeltLine and near Ponce City Market. Although it looks like it is close to Centennial Olympic Park on a map, the hike from downtown Atlanta is hillier than it appears at first glance.

The ground at Piedmont Park is covered with grass and paved trails.

Getting there

Piedmont Park is easily accessed by bus, train, taxi, Uber, on foot and by bicycle. It is easily accessed by car, but parking is tough during major festivals.

Tip for taking MARTA: use the Breeze Mobile app to purchase fares directly from your phone and scan your device on the bus or at the station.

When deciding your method of transportation to the festival, you'll want to note that skateboards, scooters, bicycles, wagons, carts and personal motorized vehicles are prohibited during the event.

Staying there

If you don’t mind traveling a short distance to get to your room, you may want to try one of downtown Atlanta's hotels.

At the festival

Featuring more than 30 artists performing across four stages, the main reason to go to Music Midtown is the music. To satisfy your sense of taste, the festival is promising some of Atlanta’s favorite local bites will be available for purchase.

Before you get there, you’ll want to be sure to pay special attention to the list of allowed and explicitly prohibited items.
